Qualifying Construction Types

This tool provides a preliminary determination based on IBC 2021 Table 601 fire resistance requirements and material combustibility classifications. Type IV subtypes (IV-A, IV-B, IV-C, IV-HT) follow 2021 IBC mass timber provisions. Assembly ratings must be verified through UL listings, GA Fire Resistance Design Manual, or IBC Section 722 calculated methods. Fire separation distance requirements per Section 705.5 / Table 705.5 vary by occupancy and are shown for general reference only. Confirm whether your NJ-adopted code retains Table 602 or uses Table 705.5 exclusively. This tool does not replace professional code analysis.
